Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

49 Point Weekend From Wendel Leads to Pair of UMAC Wins

St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown's men basketball team won two important UMAC games over the weekend, beating Martin Luther on Friday 91-77, and beating Bethany Lutheran 64-57 on Saturday.

Crown's first win featured a double-double by freshman Timothy Wendel, who was almost perfect from the field on 10-11 shooting (4-5 from three). He scored 25 points and 10 rebounds, and also had an assist a block, and a steal in the game. Senior James Brown added 19 points on 50% shooting. Senior Jordan Whitcomb and sophomore Josh Volness added 14 and 13 respectively, each grabbing six boards. Volness also added five assists in the game.

During the second game, it was another great game for freshman Wendel, as he scored 24 points and had six rebounds along with an assist and a block. Senior Brown had another solid performance, including a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Upperclassman Terrell Thomas had a great game as well, scoring ten points including a layup late that sealed the game. A strong defensive effort by Crown held a normally high-scoring Bethany Lutheran team to an incredibly low 34.5% from the field, and only 57 points (Bethany Lutheran's second lowest point total of the season.)

The Crown men finish up the semester with a UMAC game in Morris against the Cougars next Saturday.
