St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown's football team fell to Westminster (MO) this weekend 7-35, their second loss in a row.
Westminster put on the gas early, where their junior quarterback
Trent White (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter. The game stalled from there with no other points in the first half.
That trend did not continue in the second half, with junior back
Latif Adams (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) running for three second-half touchdowns to put Westminster up 35-0. Senior
Josh Edlund (Crookston/Crookston) saved the shutout late by running for a 58-yard touchdown with four minutes remaining, part of his 118-yard game.
Defensively, sophomore
Desean Riley (Lakeland, Fla./Lake Gibson) put together an impressive performance all over the field, with seven tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, a broken up pass and an interception. Fellow sophomore
Tyler Byrd (Montavallo, Ala./Evangel Christian School) had a strong performance, with six tackles, 1.5 for loss including a sack. Sophomore linebacker
Jake Nohr (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) led the team with nine tackles and a fumble recovery.
Crown plays Greenville away next weekend.
