St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The last time Crown played North Central, the Storm allowed the Rams to shoot close to 60% from the floor in a 104-82 loss back on December 12. Crown has since switched defenses playing much more match-up zone than man-to-man defense hoping to get enough stops for their own high powered offense to win the game.
Down five at half, the Storm found themselves down by 15 at one point in the second half before closing the game on a 35-16 run to win 91-87 behind solid team play. Multiple players scored huge baskets in the final minutes as Crown sealed the win with free throws down the stretch.
Crown was led by big man
Austin VanDerHeyden who put up 24 points and 13 rebounds shooting 11-17 from the field.
James Brown added 21 points and nine rebounds just one rebound shy of a double double.
Seth Moan had 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists only missing one of his eight field goal attempts.
Tom Messner also chipped in 12 points hitting all of his free throws including two huge ones in the final seconds.
The men will take on Northwestern on Saturday night in continued UMAC play.
