Mankato, Minn. - Coming off of an exciting double overtime win over Martin Luther, Crown was looking for back to back wins for the first time this season as they took on the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings. The Storm played the Vikings very evenly over the first half down 32-31 at the break. Crown came out firing in the second half and built a six point lead at the 17:22 mark behind the shooting of freshman
Josh Volness. The Vikings would take the lead back at the 14;12 mark and would not relinquish that lead for the rest of game eventually winning 77-69.
Crown made more field goals (25-24) and three pointers (11-6) than Bethany, but was outshot at the free throw line (23-8). The Storm were also outrebounded by eight giving up 16 offensive rebounds in the process, but also collected 11 offensive rebounds of their own. The biggest disparity was at the charity stripe where Crown attempted 21 less free throws than Bethany did including fifteen attempts to Crown's two in the first half.
Crown was led by the freshman Volness who put up 20 points and shot 5-8 from beyond the arc.
James Brown added 14 points and six boards before fouling out.
Austin VanDerHeyden put another double double in at 13 and 12.
Crown returns home this next weekend for a home game agaiinst Morris on the 23rd.
