New Ulm, Minn. - The Crown College Storm traveled to New Ulm, Minnesota on Friday evening for another UMAC matchup against the Martin Luther College Knights. Crown opened up the first half with a twenty point lead looking to cruise to an easy win. The Knights were resilient as they clawed back to make it a game. On the final possession of regulation with Crown ahead 90-87, a Knights player drew a foul shooting a three pointer and hit all three free throws to force overtime.
Both teams gave the fans their money's worth as the first overtime period ended with a questionable buzzer beater from Martin Luther to force a second overtime. Crown put the game away however outscoring the Knights 16-12 in the second overtime.
Crown shot 47.5% for the game while the Knights shot 44.2%. Crown won the rebounding battle plus 15.
Seth Moan led Crown with 36 points and four steals hitting big shot after big shot as the game got late.
Austin VanDerHeyden put up a huge night with 26 points, 23 rebounds, and four assists.
James Brown chipped in 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assists while
Josh Volness also reached double figures with 11 points.
Tom Messner also had nine points.
Crown plays their next contest against Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday, January 16th.
