Box Score Roseville, Minn. - Crown College opened UMAC play this Saturday against the University of Northwestern Eagles. After falling behind 21-0 in the first half, Crown College would threaten scoring two in a row to narrow the game to 21-13. That would be as close as it would get as the Eagles would tack on two more scores as Crown saw two red zone chances result in zero points down the stretch for a final score of 35-13.
The Eagles outgained the Storm 437 yards to 275 yards and 210 to 65 on the ground. Crown also struggled on third down only converting 2 of 13 third downs. Crown was able to convert five of six fourth downs. In addition, Northwestern converted all four of their red zone chances while Crown only finished off two of four chances while turning the ball over in the end zone in the third quarter.
Brandon McCormick (Edwards, Ill.) finished the day completing 21 of 36 pass attempts for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Josh Edlund (Crookston, Minn.) paved the way on the ground with eight carries for 35 yards.
Trey Peace (Raleigh, N.C.) and
Terrell Thomas (Charleston, S.C.) both had 85 yards receiving while Thomas pulled down a touchdown. Defensively,
Chris Strange (Houston, Texas) and freshman
Tyler Byrd (Montevallo, Ala.) had nine tackles apiece while
Josh Brozek (Rockford, Minn.) contributed eight tackles and two tackles for loss.
Crown will return home next Saturday for a UMAC matchup against the Martin Luther College Knights.
