Duluth, Minn. – The Crown baseball team was swept this weekend by perennial conference powerhouse St. Scholastica. The Saints defeated Crown by way of the run rule in three straight games, winning 13-2, 23-1, and 15-0.
Game one was within reach, 4-0 through four innings, before a nine run fifth catapulted Scholastica ahead by double digits.
Daryl Taylor was a bright spot for the Storm, going 3-3 at the plate, while
Camden Wiens continued to hit as well, going 2-3.
Game two saw the Storm churn through five pitchers as the Saints used a six run second inning and a 10 run fifth to do the bulk of their damage. A Joel Sliva sacrifice fly was the only offense for Crown, while Taylor recorded two more hits.
The third and final game of the series saw Crown manage just four hits in seven innings while committing six errors. The Saints jumped ahead 8-0 after two innings and didn't look back, completing the sweep with a shutout.
Crown finds themselves in the midst of a five game skid as they look ahead to an all-important double header with Martin Luther early next week.
