St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown College men played their final home games of the season this weekend including senior night on Saturday for both
Roland Owczarek and Garrett Gordon. Crown picked up an important UMAC win on Friday night blowing out the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran 98-75 and lost to Martin Luther 73-62 on Saturday night.
BLC – Crown had six different players hit a three pointer in the first half as they grabbed a 49-39 lead. They would build that lead to as much as 27 over the course of the second half as they cruised to a win. Crown scored 52 points in the paint and had 21 assists in this game in which they never trailed.
James Brown scored 26 points on 10-16 shooting while
Austin VanDerHeyden scored 17 points and pulled down 10 boards for another double double. Owczarek also reached double figures in points with 12.
Trey Peace chipped in seven assists off the bench.
MLC – In game number two, Crown and Martin Luther played an extremely competitive game exchanging the lead several times. Martin Luther stayed on top of the Storm on the back of Todd Brassow who carried the Knights with 29 points going 12-19 from the floor. Every time Crown would cut into the lead, they could not find a stop. The Knights hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the win 72-63.
Crown was led by VanDerHeyden who had 13 points and five rebounds. Brown had 12 points and
Breier Sanders chipped in 10 off the bench for the Storm.
