St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Crown welcomed the California Technical Institute of Technology (CalTech) to St. Bonifacius for a non conference game. It was the first game for Crown back from Christmas break after over two weeks off. Luckily, the break did Crown some good as they came back firing to pick up a 77-71 win over the Beavers of CalTech.
Crown led 17-15 at the end of the first quarter and 36-33 at the half behind some strong guard play from
Jessica Klaustermeier and
Andrea Besa. A poor third quarter, which saw Crown score only 12 points, found Crown at the wrong side of a 53-48 score. However, Crown would finish strong in the fourth quarter outscoring the Beavers 29-18 down the stretch to win 77-71. Key in that stretch was the free throw shooting as the Beavers started fouling, and Crown hit an 19-24 free throws for a 79.2%.
Jessica Klaustermeier led Crown with 21 points, six rebounds, and five steals hitting 13-16 free throws.
Andrea Besa also played a stellar game with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals coming up with some huge steals in the fourth quarter.
