Duluth, Minn. – The Crown women's soccer team took to the road this past weekend for a pair of UMAC games. The trip would prove a difficult one as the Storm dropped a 5-1 decision to Northland College and played a tough game against St. Scholastica, eventually falling 3-0.
Missing several key players, including all three first choice defenders after an injury to
Erin Ebbers early in the first half, the Storm couldn't keep pace with an improved Northland side that jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Crown could get a late goal from
Tiffany Krueger.
Danielle Palm assisted on the late goal, which would only serve as a small consolation for the Storm.
Saturday would see a much better performance, but a similar result, as Crown dropped their second game of the trip to conference leading St. Scholastica. Crown was outshot 23-4 in the match, with
Hillary Brondsema's 10 saves keeping them in the match.
Brondsema recorded double-digit saves in both games and continues to lead the conference in that department by a wide margin. The challenge for the Storm has been on the attack, where they have been outshot 255-121 on the season.
Crown will look to get back on track next weekend as they play host to Northwestern and North Central.
