St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown women's soccer team notched their first win of the season on Saturday night, defeating North Central 3-0. The Storm dropped a tough2-1 decision to Northwestern on Friday.
Friday's match was extremely close all night. The Eagles scored just after the 60 minute mark, but
Megan Wright answered less than two minutes later to tie the score at 1-1. Northwestern was able to get the game winner in the 76
th minute and Crown could not answer. The loss dropped the Storm to 0-5 in UMAC play.
Saturday brought a better result as
Terrin Boozikee played a beautiful ball into the box that Wright coolly finished with her first touch just 16 seconds into the game.
Samantha Samsa would add a goal later in the half on an assist from Wright and the Storm led 2-0 at the half.
Samsa would score once more with less than ten minutes to go on an assist from
Tiffany Krueger and
Hillary Brondsema was barely troubled in recording the shutout.
Crown will now face Bethany Lutheran in back to back contests that mark the halfway point of the UMAC season.
