St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The non-conference season continued for Crown against the Hamline Pipers this Tuesday. Crown has still been searching for some offensive rhythym as three of the starting five are freshman learning to gel together. With the exception of the closing of each half, Crown outplayed the Pipers in many areas. However, the inability to close out each half led to a 74-55 loss.
Crown found themselves down by eight points early in the first half before narrowing the score to 24-19 with 7:28 left in the half. Over that final 7:28, Crown was outscored 23-3 to find themselves down 47-22 at the half.
The second half would be eerily similar as Crown clawed their way back into the game finding themselves down only seven points at 62-55 with 4:05 remaining in the game. Hamline would close out the half on a 12-0 run leading to the nineteen point loss.
Crown was hindered by the Pipers hot shooting as they went 9-14 from three point land for an uncanny 64% from deep. Crown hit ten threes on the night, but took 28 of them by contrast.
James Brown led Crown with 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Crown will participate in the Nebraska Wesleyan Snyder Classic this Friday and Saturday in continued non-conference play.
