Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Poor Rebounding Leads to Auggie Win

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Coming off a disappointing loss to Macalester College, Crown was looking to improve their free throw shooting and rebounding against the Augsburg College Auggies.  Unfortunately, Crown would give up 16 offensive rebounds to the Auggies leading to 21 second chance points.  That, coupled with some costly turnovers, would lead to a 95-55 defeat.

Crown dug themselves a hole early in the first half finding themselves down 23 at one point but was able to narrow the lead to 15 several times and found themselves down 50-35 at half.  The lead swelled throughout the second half leading to both teams subbing freely from the bench in this early season, non-conference matchup.

James Brown led the team with 14 points on 7-16 shooting and had several shots go in and out on the night.  Austin VanDerHeyden led down low with a double double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, nine of them defensive.  VanDerHeyden also posted three blocks.

Crown will travel to Wartburg College this Friday where they will play UW - Superior on Friday and either Wartburg or St. Scholastica on Saturday.
