St. Bonifacius, Minn. - In their 2014-2015 season opener, Crown welcomed MIAC opponent Macalester College to the Wild Athletic Center for a rematch of last year's game where Crown won 79-74. Gone for Crown were many of the pieces of that win, like UMAC player of the year
Bryce Williams and senior post Billy Berglund. Crown had many chances to win this one even with a young roster. However, a poor performance from the charity stripe, the Storm shot just 8-17 at the line, would doom Crown down the stretch as they wound up losing 65-60.
Crown played very well considering five new players played double digit minutes for the Storm. Returners
James Brown and
Roland Owczarek scored 17 and six points respectively. Brown also led the team in assists with four. Freshman Austin VanDerHayden and
Chuckie Adams played extremely well in their debuts as VanDerHayden had 14 points and 9 rebounds and Adams had 12 points and never missed a shot from the field, going 5-5 on the night.
Crown plays their next game against Augsburg College on Tuesday, November 18th with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
