Morris, Minn. – The Crown volleyball team travelled to Morris on Tuesday night to face the Cougars of UMM and got a bonus game as Presentation College was also in attendance for the annual triangular between the three teams. The Storm lost to the Cougars in straight sets and then battled the NAIA Saints to five sets before losing 3-2.
Morris, who currently sits in second place in the UMAC standings, turned in a dominant performance, recording 48 kills in the three set match while hitting .309 as a team. The Cougars were also great defensively, holding Crown to a -.028 hitting percentage and only 12 kills.
The Storm bounced back against Presentation, dropping the first and third sets by pretty wide margins but taking the second and fourth sets with late comebacks. The Saints were able to jump out to a 6-0 lead in set five, however, and cruise to a 15-8 final set victory, sealing the match.
Katie Herrmann led the squad with nine kills, while
Brittany Gamer had seven kills with zero attacking errors and contributed 22 assists.
Kelsey Roschen led the defensive charge, recording 34 digs in the five set match.
Crown stays on the road this weekend, facing UMAC foes Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther.
