New Ulm, Minn. – The Crown volleyball team ran into a buzz saw this past weekend, losing 3-0 to both Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther, two teams fighting for the fourth and final playoff spot in the UMAC standings.
Bethany Lutheran turned in a massive defensive performance, holding Crown to a -.099 hitting percentage. Only Crown's two setters were able to record more kills than errors as the team totaled 12 kills and 20 attacking errors on the night.
Kelsey Roschen had 16 digs and
Kirby Beers led the team with four kills.
Things didn't get much easier on Saturday, as Martin Luther held the Storm to another negative day hitting, while swinging at a .232 clip themselves.
Kailee Mamula had six kills to lead Crown, while Roschen once again led the defense with 14 digs.
Crown will look to get back in the win column in two weeks when they take on UMAC foes North Central and Northwestern at home.
