Arden Hills, Minn. – The Polars resumed a game against Bethel that was originally suspended in early March due to time constraints. The Royals held the lead entering the day and pulled away for a 15-5 win.
The Polars struck early, plating three runs in the top of the first inning. Tyler Olson scored on an error, Carson Sanders drove in Bryan Gerbers with a single, and TJ Reilly later came home on another Bethel miscue to give the Polars a 3-0 lead.
Bethel responded immediately, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. The Royals extended their advantage with five more runs in the second inning.
Gideon Vana crossed the plate on an error in the fourth to make it 9-4, and after Bethel added a run in the fifth, Michael Escalante brought in Sanders with an RBI single in the sixth to keep the Polars within striking distance. However, Bethel broke the game open with a four-run bottom of the sixth. Their final run in the eighth inning triggered the run rule, sealing the 15-5 victory.
Olson led the Polars at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Sanders, Vana, Escalante, and Keegan Eastman each recorded a hit, with Olson and Eastman both hitting doubles. Escalante also added an RBI.
The Polars return to action on Friday to begin their final conference series, continuing at home with a doubleheader on Saturday for Senior Day.
