Riley and Ocker Deal as Team Sweeps Doubleheader

St. Bonifacius, MN - Valles and Cryer both hit home runs in Saturday doubleheader sweep.

Brooklyn Riley entered the circle for the Polars in game one of the doubleheader. She continued her impressive freshman campaign, throwing all 7 innings and only giving up 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. Following a sacrifice fly from Maria Lilienthal that brought in the first run, Itzel Valles hit a 2-run home run. Three batters later, Megan Cryer hit one over the fence, plating 3 more runs to take an early 6-0 lead. Lilienthal singled in another run in the second to extend the lead. Polars defense backed up their freshman pitcher and sealed the 7-3 win in game one. Fellow freshman Brooklyn Ocker entered the circle for game two. After a quick top of the 1st, Ocker hammered a 2-run triple to take the lead. Polars tacked on 3 more runs with a Kya Oakes double, Savanna Gumowski single, and Emmy Romportl single. Both teams traded runs in the 5th and Polars completed the sweep. Ocker tossed a complete game giving up only 4 hits and 1 earned run.
