Buffalo Lake, Minn. — The Crown College men's and women's golf teams competed in the Sword and Shield Invitational over two days, with Round 1 played at Crow River Golf Club in Hutchinson and Round 2 at Oakdale Country Club in Buffalo Lake. The men finished sixth out of nine teams while the women placed fourth in a six-team field, with several Polars turning in standout individual performances across the 36-hole event.
Crown's men were led by a pair of top-10 individual finishes. Steven Dimmel carded the team's best overall performance, finishing seventh in the field with rounds of 78 and 76 for a 154 total. Dimmel saved his best golf for the final round at Oakdale, going out in 34 on the front nine — two strokes under par. Grant Bestland was right behind him, finishing T8th after opening with a sharp 74 at Crow River, the low round of the event for any Crown men's player. Dimitri Mesnickow finished T34th with rounds of 86 and 81 for a 167 total. Grant Oakland posted rounds of 85 and 87 for a 172 total, finishing 41st, while Carter Miller rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 92 and 84 for a 176 total, finishing 44th.
Also competing as individuals, Tristan Youngblood finished T38th with rounds of 86 and 84 for a 170 total. Brayden Oakland finished 45th with rounds of 86 and 93 for a 179 total, Aidan Olson finished 46th with rounds of 87 and 93 for a 180 total, and Angel Cottington finished 50th with rounds of 91 and 100 for a 191 total.
On the women's side, Shelby Cash delivered a top-10 finish, placing 7th in the field with rounds of 84 and 92 for a 176 total. Her opening 84 at Crow River was the low round among Crown's women and helped anchor the team's fourth-place finish. Autumn Hill contributed with rounds of 99 and 97 for a 196 total, finishing T12th. Cecilia Escalante shot rounds of 109 and 116 for a 225 total, finishing 23rd, while Nicole Baker rounded out the Polars with rounds of 120 and 117 for a 237 total, finishing 26th.
