Mankato, Minn. - The Polars baseball team faced off with Bethany Lutheran on Saturday for the UMAC Championship and lost by a score of 6-3.
Crown got on the scoreboard first after
Kyler Thruston scored on a throwing error to give Crown the 1-0 lead. The Vikings answered with one run of their own to tie the score at 1-1 after the 1st inning. After two Polars were hit by pitch Thruston doubled down the left field line to give Crown the 2-1 lead. The Polars left two runners on base in the second inning. The score stayed there until a
Zach Adams double drove in
Caleb Yowell to give the Polars the 3-1 lead after 6 innings.
Jacob Van Dam pitched well for 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run and 4 total hits. The top of the 8th inning came and went with the score staying where it was. The 3-1 lead was erased in the bottom half of the 8th as Bethany Lutheran put up a crooked number on the scoreboard tallying 5 runs in the inning. Crown sent out three different pitchers in the inning but the Vikings led 6-3 going into the 9th inning. A
Bryan Gerbers double and
Tyler Bloom walk put the tying run at the plate but the Polars were unable to capitalize falling 6-3. Gerbers and
Tyler Olson both had two hits in the game.
The Polars finish the 2025 season with a record of 23-18 and a conference record of 16-5.Â
