Second Half Shooting Woes Doom Polars as Crown Falls to UM-Morris

Morris, Minn. - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with the University of Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday and fell by a score of 78-63. 

The story of the first half was a back-and-forth battle that featured fourteen different lead changes. Crown took an early 9-5 lead early and Morris answered back taking a four point lead nearing the midway point of the half. It continued to flip back and forth until two Anthony Knight free throws put Crown ahead 36-34 heading into the break. 

The second half favored the Cougars in the first few minutes but with 16:02 to go in the 2nd half the Polars took a 41-39 lead after a Carter Behne bucket. Morris took control of the game from that point forward and jumped out to a ten point lead with 10 minutes remaining. Crown was unable to stage a comeback and eventually fell by a score of 78-63. 

John Grigsby led the offensive effort for the Polars totaling 15 points and 3 rebounds. Carter Behne and Tyrus Buckner both scored double digits. Parker Behne led the rebounding with 7 rebounds. As a team the Polars shot just 33.8% from the field going 23-68 and 19.4% from three-point range going 6-31. 

The Polars fall to 9-7 on the season and 2-3 in UMAC play and look to get back on track this Saturday, January 25th at home against the University of Northwestern at 3pm.
