St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Polars Men's Soccer team faced off with Buena Vista on Thursday evening and fell 5-3.
After a 3-0 start to UMAC play Crown kept the momentum with the first goal of the contest coming from
Ashton Hosler in the 19
th minute and
Jose Lovera earned the assist. Three minutes later into the contest the Beavers evened the score at 1-1. Nearing the halfway point in the first half
Luke Kamm sent a ball in off a deflection from the Buena Vista keeper to take the lead right back 2-1. Yet again the Beavers answered the Polars goal with one of their own and the score was tied up 2-2 at half.
The Beavers took control of the contest in the second half as they scored two goals in the 51
st and 65
th minutes. Crown had an excellent opportunity to score with a penalty shot but sent one off the crossbar. Just a few minutes later
Serni Batalla scored his third goal of the season, but it was not enough as Crown fell 5-3.
Mateo Navarro and
Will Parcher both played in goal for Crown in the match.
The Polars fall to 3-4 overall and will next face off with Martin Luther at home this Saturday, September 28
th at 4:30pm.
