Ashland, WI – The Polars Men's Soccer team took on Northland College on Wednesday evening and came out with a 7-0 win for the first victory under new head coach
Alex Hosler.
In the first five minutes of play the Polars scored on their second shot as
Ashton Hosler sent one into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. After about 15 minutes of play Crown scored for a second time as the duo of
Juan Fernando Arriaga and
Joaquin Silva put the Polars up 2-0. Arriaga was credited with the goal.
Sebastian Bocanegra also scored his first goal of the season in the 26
th minute.
The Polars offense came to play as they totaled 14 shots in the first half and added two more goals to take the 5-0 lead as
Alan Montano and
Colin Vilme scored for Crown. In the 47
th minute Montano scored his second goal of the day to push Crown out in front by six. Nineteen players saw action in the contest as a late penalty gave
Ian Foss an opportunity to fire a penalty kick in and he capitalized as Crown went on to win 7-0.
Arriaga, Silva,
Pedro Silveira, and
Marcus Banegas all earned an assist in the contest. Six different Polars scored in the contest.
Leo Roque played all 90 minutes in goal and totaled 4 saves on route to the clean sheet.
The Polars move to 1-3 on the season and 1-0 in UMAC play as they will return home for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the University of Northwestern on September 21
st at 3pm on Homecoming weekend.
