St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Polars men's soccer hosted Trinity Bible College Thursday evening and earned a 7-0 victory over the Lions. With this non-conference win Crown moves up to 10-9 on the season.
A surprise snow storm dropped an inch of snow at Old National Bank Stadium delaying the start of the contest. Once the conditions subsided play got udnerway. The first half saw the Polars score 5 goals.
Mateo Navarro started the scoring for the Polars with a goal off an excellent ball in from
Sebastian Bocanegra. In the 13th minute Bocanegra added a goal of his own moving the Polars lead to 2-0.
Isaac Schulz added Crown's third goal of the night, sneaking one past the Lions keeper. In the 28th minute
Noah Ahooja scored for the Polars.
Jude McVety scored the final goal of the first half increasing Crown's lead to 5-0.
Travis Verkulien scored his first career goal drilling one into the back of the net in the 47th minute. The Polars final goal of the match came from
Ivan Luis Celedon off the assist from
Mateo Navarro in the 69th minute. The contest was cut short after 70 minutes of play due to poor field conditions and safety concerns.
The Polars will next head up north for the final regular season contest with UW-Superior this Saturday, November 2nd at 1pm.
