Men's Soccer Drops Nailbiter After Dazzling Early Goal

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars faced off with the Hamline Pipers for the first home contest of the season Friday night and fell by a score of 2-1.

Crown jumped out in front early after Jose Lovera sent a free kick beautifully in towards the goal and an acrobat header from Ashton Hosler sent the ball into the back of the net in the 13th minute. The match evened up at 1 apiece after a goal from James Sondo of the Pipers in the 32nd minute. The first half finished there at 1-1.

Five minutes in to the second half the Pipers notched the go ahead goal. Four shots from the Polars in the second half did not get by Rimington. The final score finished at 2-1 the Polars falling in their opening contest of the year.

Ashton Hosler led the offensive attack as he totaled 5 shots and his first goal for the Polars. Jose Lovera notched an assist as well. Max Henderson got the start at goalkeeper for Crown and had two saves after playing ninety minutes.

The Polars fall to 0-1 on the season and look to grab the first win of the year on the road tomorrow at Bethel University for a 5:30pm start.
