St. Peter, MN - The Crown College Polars Baseball team faced off with the Gustavus College Gusties on Wednesday and fell by a score of 17-6.
The Polars notched the first runs of the game after a scoreless first three innings. A few walks, an error, and a wild pitch gave Crown the early 2-0 lead. The Gusties answered back with one of their own. Hits from
Cody Csulak,
Cael Magill, and
Seth Betts gave Crown the 4-1 lead. The Crown lead was quickly taken away as the Gusties scored 8 runs over the course of three innings. Two runs from Crown in the 8th cut the lead to 9-6. A huge bottom half of the inning gave the Gusties the lead and the ten run rule victory as Crown fell 17-6.
Seth Betts led the way offensively as he went 2-4 in the contest. Crown took the pitch by committee approach in the contest as ten pitchers took the mound throughout the contest, none of which pitching more than an inning.
Crown falls to 18-15 overall and will have all their pitching ready for their final UMAC series with the UW-Superior Yellowjackets on Friday and Saturday. The Polars have already clinched a spot in the UMAC playoffs occurring next week.
