Softball Drops Doubleheader to Vikings, UMAC Playoff Hopes Still Alive

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Crown College Polars Softball team faced off with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Tuesday and dropped both contests by scores of 11-4 and 7-4.

Game one started with the Vikings scoring the first 5 runs of the game. After a few hits an an error Crown pushed across the first run of the game. A lead off triple from Madi Hecox started the bottom of the fifth with some fireworks as the Polars cut the deficit to 5-2. Bethany pushed across six runs in the seventh to stretch the lead to 11-2. A late few runs brought the Polars closer but it was not enough as Crown fell 11-4.

Abbie Carroll pitched for Crown and took the loss. Maria Lilienthal went 3-4 to lead the Crown offensive attack.

Game two started out with two runs from the Vikings. The Polars answered with a run of their own in the second inning after a walk, sacrifice bunt, and an error. Bethany Lutheran then scored 5 unanswered runs to stretch the lead to 7-1. Hits from Ashley Earick and Maria Lilienthal scored one. Two more runs came across to score and the score set at 7-4. A late rally was cut short as the Polars fell by the score 7-4.
