Mankato, MN - Crown College Softball faced off with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings in the first game of the UMAC tournament, falling by a score of 12-1.
Crown started out the game with a single from
Madi Hecox and a sacrifice bunt from
Ashley Earick. A single from
Emmy Romportl and a wild pitch score Hecox for the first run of the game. Six runs from the Vikings in the bottom half of the inning answered the Polars offense and the score sat at 6-1 with the Vikings out in front. Crown was unable to put together a meaningful comeback with just a few hits through the next couple innings. Six more runs from the Vikings would do it, as Crown fell 12-1.
Emmy Romportl started in the circle for Crown and was removed from the game in the first inning.
Lindsay Glover and
Abbie Carroll both pitched in the contest as well. Romportl led the Polars in the batters box with 2 hits on 3 at bats.
Maliya Martinez and
Madi Hecox both grabbed hits as well.
The Polars dropped game one and will be fighting to stave off elimination tomorrow Friday, May 12th at 1:30pm in a contest against the University of Northwestern Eagles.
