St. Paul, MN - The Crown College Polars Softball team faced off with the Northwestern Eagles on Saturday and fell by scores of 10-6 and 6-1.
The Polars took the lead in game one in the bottom of the second inning after a first inning run from the Eagles. Singles from
Itzel Valles and
Morgan Aylsworth as well as an
Ashley Earick walk gave Crown the 2-1 lead. Northwestern would even up the score in the bottom half of the inning at 2 apiece. A wild bottom of the 4th inning gave the Polars a 5-2 lead. Northwestern scored 8 unanswered runs before Crown notched one in the top of the 7th and game one went to the Eagles 10-6.
Crown totaled three hits in game one with
Emmy Romportl and
Morgan Aylsworth notching an RBI each. Romportl pitched 4 innings and
Lindsay Glover came out of the pen to throw the last three.
Game two saw Northwestern take an early 4-1 lead through three innings.The lone run for Crown coming on an
Emmy Romportl single.
Maria Lilienthal and
Aletheia Fisher both nothced 2 hits apiece and Romportl notched the lone run batted in.
Abbie Carroll and
Lindsay Glover both pitched in game two for the Crown women.
Crown falls to 8-20 on the season and 5-5 in UMAC play. AÂ crucial series is set to come on Monday at home with two games against Northland College at 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
