Lilienthal's Home Run Gives Polars Split in UMAC Crossover

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Crown College Polars Softball team faced off with Wisconsin Superior and fell 17-0 and took down Northland 5-3.

Game one was a rough one as Crown struggle in the batter's box totaling three hits on the game. Emmy Romportl, Abbey Underdahl, and Lindsay glover all took the mound in the contest. Madi Hecox, Emmy Romportl, and Ashley Earick marked the three hits on the game and the Polars fell 17-0. Game two saw Northland notch the first run on the game in the bottom of the first inning to take the first lead of the game. Crown tied it up in the third after two hits and a sacrifice fly to center field. The Lumberjills answered right back in response to the Crown run and scored two of their own to put the score at 3-1, Northland in the lead. The 5th inning proved to be where the fireworks would come with five hits from Crown and four of them in a row. Hecox singled, Romportl doubled, and Lilienthal sent one deep for her second home run of the year.

Abbie Carroll was able to shut down the Lumberjills offense in the late innings throwing four scoreless innings and the Polars took the win right before a quick dousing rain. Carroll struck out six batters in the contest and only allowed 3 earned runs throuhg 7 innings on the rubber. Catelyn Garza, Madi hecox, and Ashley Earick all totaled 2 hit games with Crown totaled 9 hits in the game. 

The Polars stay at home for two more contests tomorrow with games against Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran with game times set for 10am and 4pm.
