Fridley, Minnesota - The Crown College Polars Men's and Women's Tennis teams faced off with Martin Luther in the UMAC opener, both falling by scores of 7-2 and 9-0.
David Comings shined in the opener winning his singles and doubles match from the #1 position in both. The freshman from Wahpeton, North Dakota won his singles match winning set one 6-4 and finishing the match with another 6-4 finish. This marking the first won match by a polars men's tennis player since 2021.Â
Tim Jaeger the two sport standout battled in his number two singles match but fell 6-4 and 6-3. The combination of Jaeger and Comings in the number one doubles match proved to be too much for the Knights to handle as the duo won 8-7 after a tiebreaker.
Crown also had 5 other players compete with
Brock Knick,
Titus Krech,
Jackson McFaden,
Cole Matthys, and
Gabe Rojas Gomez. The Polars men ultimately would fall 7-2.
Annie Doyle's performance for the Polars women saw her almost bring her number one singles match to a third set with scores settling at 6-2 and 7-5.
Jaidence Medina,
Ella Hosmer,
Lauren Blees, Alora Devries,
Cassie Young, and
Amanda Helser rounded out the women who competed for Crown. Martin Luther would win by a score of 9-0.
Both team will get back to the action this Friday, heading up north to take on the St. Scholastica Saints at 12:30pm.
