Softball Falls to Mitchell and Nazareth

Naples, FL - The Crown College Polars Softball team faced of with Mitchell College and Nazareth on Tuesday, falling by the score 7-2 in both.

Game one saw Mitchell score 5 runs in the first two innings. Mitchell tacked on one more run in the third inning giving them a 6-0 lead. Crown left 2 runners on base through the first 3 innings with only one in scoring position. After an Emmy Romportl walk and stolen base, Itzel Valles would single putting two runners on with no one out. An Ashley Earick single score the Polars first run of the game and a strike out to end the inning left the score at 6-1. A fifth inning rally wasn't enough for Crown and the final score would finish at 7-2 with the Polars falling in the first contest of the day. 

Ashley Earick pitched a complete game for the Polars allowing six earned runs on nine hits notching 2 strikeouts in the contest. Crown totaled four hits on the game with madi Hecox, Emmy Romportl, Itzel Valles, and Ashley Earick getting hits.

Game two saw Crown face off with Nazareth College. The Golden Eagles got on the board first with 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Crown would get two runners on base in the top of the 2nd but Maria Lilienthal was gunned at the plate trying to score off of an Abbey Underdahl single. Nazareth tacked on 4 more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Crown scored their first runs of the game answering back with 2 runs of their own in the top of the 4th inning. Three singles drove in the two runs for the Polars and the score sat at 6-2. Crown was unable to get the bats going again and fell by a score of 7-2.

Abbie Carroll and Abbey Underdahl pitched for the Polars with Carroll pitching 4 innings only allowing one earned run and striking out two. Three Polars had multi hit outings with Emmy Romportl going 2-3, Maria Lilienthal going 2-3, and Abbey Underdahl also going 2-3.

Crown falls to 1-13 and looks to bounce back tomorrow, March 15th facing off with New York University and SUNY Brockport at 8am and 10am.
