Waverly, IA - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with the UW-River Falls Falcons on Saturday and fell 76-60.
Crown jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter after buckets from Sydeny Cotten and
McKenzie Latzke. The Polars stretched the four points with three minutes to play in the quarter. The Falcons evened the score at 15-15 and a bucket from
Isabelle Sager in the last minute gave Crown the edge heading into the second quarter. The Falcons made their defensive presence known in the second quarter as the Polars only managed to score 7 points. River Falls ran off 16 unanswered points as the score held at 38-24 at halftime in favor of UW-River Falls.
The third quarter saw the Falcons stretch the lead out to more than 20 points. A few buckets from
Isabelle Sager reigned in the Falcons lead and the score settled at 61-42 at the end of the third. The Polars did not go down without a fight as
Raelin Smalley scored 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Raelin Smallery led the scoring for Crown with 13 points and 3 rebounds.
Isabelle Sager finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double. Newcomer
Mya Morris scored 10 points in her second contest for the Polars.
Crown falls to 2-10 on the year and will next face off with UM-Morris at home on January 6th for their conference home opener at 3pm.
