Kissimmee, FL - The Polars Women's Soccer team faced off with the Bob Jones University Bruins on Thursday in the NCCAA DII Semifinal Match and fell 1-0.
The battle of the bears was one to watch all match long as a hard fought first half left the score even at 0-0. The Bruins had the 11-3 lead in shots but the play of goalkeeper
Rachel Fuller kept the Polars in the mix with 7 saves in the first 45 minutes alone. Neither team was able to get a ball in the back of the net in regulation despite Bob Jones having multiple opportunities as the shot count favored the Bruins 21 to 8. Crown battled but eventually ran out of steam giving up the lone goal of the match 2 minutes into the first overtime period and the final score read Bruins 1 and Polars 0.
Ashley Pierce and
Ella Hollander both took three shots each, as
Emma Domka took two and
Abigail Shull took one. Perhaps the best opportunity fro Crown came off of a header from Domka that the Bruins keeper just was able to corral in a crowded box. Fuller notched 12 saves in an impressive effort.
The Polars will compete in the 3rd place match on Saturday, November 18th for the final match of the season.
