St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Men's Soccer team faced off with the Martin Luther Knights on Saturday and won 1-0.
The bombardment of shots from the Crown offense started early as the Polars notched 7 shots in the first 20 minutes. Three minutes later off a corner kick,
Serni Batalla headed one that went in towards the net and
Alan Montano was there for the second header and the goal, the second goal for Montano this season. The first half would finish with the score settled at 1-0. The shots kept coming from Crown as they totaled 16 shots in the first half compared to 3 from the Knights. The second half would be much of the same as Crown totaled 30 shots on the day and 16 shots on goal. Despite a late attempt from the Knights, Crown came out victorious.
Montano totaled 2 shots with one of them connecting for a goal. Joaquin SIiva finished with 6 shots and 5 of them on goal. Seven different Poalrs notched multiple shots in the contest.
Leo Roque played all 90 minutes in goal and totaled 5 saves and a clean sheet.
The Polars move to 6-7-2 overall and 5-3-2 in UMAC play as they currently sit in 4th place in the conference. Crown will head to Ashland, Wisconsin on Tuesday for a crucial 7pm match against Northland who currently sits in third place in the conference standings.
