Minneapolis, Minn. – An assured performance from the Crown women's soccer team led to a 2-0 victory over North Central on Saturday, giving the Polars seven points from their first three UMAC matches. Crown outshot NCU 27-3 and controlled the match throughout on their way to their second conference win of the season.
Goals from
Ashley Pierce and
Mya Turner were enough to see Crown ease ahead and claim victory on a cool and overcast afternoon in downtown Minneapolis. If Coach Kandt could have any complaints it may be that the Polars weren't as clinical in front of goal as they would have liked, only converting the two goals from 16 shots on target.
Pierce scored with a nice left footed effort in the seventh minute and Turner added a goal in the 76
th minute on a nice volley from a second ball after a Crown corner kick.
Ellie Taylor returned to the lineup for her season debut and made two saves to keep a clean sheet and 20 players in total saw the pitch with 10 different players having at least one shot.
Crown will look to continue their fantastic early-season form when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a rematch with the Cougars. The match will take place on Tuesday, September 27
th, just ten days after the first meeting between the two sides, a comprehensive 4-0 win for the Polars.
