Men’s Soccer Can’t Hold On Against Eagles

Roseville, Minn. – Despite taking a first half lead, the Crown men's soccer team were defeated on the road on Thursday night by a 3-1 score.

Joaquin Silva scored after a giveaway by Northwestern deep in their own territory.  The Crown winger picked up an errant pass and played a slick 1-2 with forward Tim Jaeger that put him through on goal and he slotted past the Eagles goalkeeper at the near post.

The Polars were able to head into the intermission ahead by the single goal, but saw the hosts score three times after the hour mark to claim the victory.

The much bigger Eagles took advantage with set pieces, scoring their first two goals from corner kicks before adding a third late in the match with Crown pressing forward.

UNW held a 19-7 advantage in shots, but only a 9-7 advantage in shots on target as the Polars were efficient in their attempts.  Both goalkeepers made six saves.

The Polars will look for their first win of the season as they travel to North Central on Saturday.
