Mankato, Minn. – The Crown softball team battled in a 7-3 loss to Minnesota Morris on Friday in crossover games hosted by Bethany Lutheran.  The Storm led 2-0 after the first inning, and outhit the Cougars 8-5, but committed five errors that led to five unearned runs.

Abbey Underdahl doubled to lead off the game and stole third before coming in to score on a Liz Kemp sac fly.  Maria Lilienthal restarted things with a walk and scored on Kiara Hurt's double to stake Crown to the early lead.

Each team scored a run in the third, with Crown scoring on a Hurt RBI single that scored Kemp.

Things unraveled in the fourth as four Crown errors led to three runs for Morris.  The Cougars added three more in the sixth while holding Crown off the scoreboard to secure the 7-3 win.

Abbie Carroll had another solid pitching performance, allowing just five hits and two walks with one strikeout over seven innings.  Hurt led the team with three hits and two RBI and Lilienthal and Underdahl each had a double among two hits.
