St. Paul, Minn. – The Crown men's basketball team continued to roll, winning for the sixth time in seven games with an 81-58 victory over top-of-the-conference Northwestern. Crown took a lead 32 seconds into the contest on a three by
Cade Carroll and never looked back, leading wire to wire.
Crown held the Eagles to just 24 first half points and held Northwestern to just 34.4% shooting, including a paltry 19% from beyond the arc.
The aforementioned Carroll led the Storm with 36 points on 12-23 shooting, including a 5-7 mark from downtown and 7-8 shooting from the charity stripe. He added 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. The reigning UMAC Player of the Week has scored 25 or more points in five straight games.
Jacob Van Dam also continued his fine form, scoring 19 points, including three big three pointers.
Seth Royston continued to affect the game without needing to score, grabbing a team-high 12 boards and recording three blocks while adding six points.
Crown's starting guards,
Alec Testerman and
Micah Ladd combined for nine points and eight assists with just a single turnover.
Crown has now won six of their last seven games, with an average margin of over 23 points.
Crown's next game is a vital road contest against Bethany Lutheran on Friday, a game that will likely decide the two-seed in the looming conference tournament.
