Box Score 2 St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown honored seven seniors before the game on Friday night and introduced an experienced starting lineup of
Dylan Gilmer,
Cam Reece,
Cole Andersen,
Drew Burnett, and
Cody Christenson with
Seth Royston and
Cade Neubert waiting in the wings. The seniors performed admirably to start the contest and Crown ran away from Northland for a 97-57 victory.
Crown was able to play a wide variety of lineups and feature their seniors after the entire squad delivered a nearly flawless performance. The Storm were led by Andersen and Reece who combined for 31 points and nine rebounds with Andersen scoring 16 on 7-10 shooting and Reece notching 15 on 5-9 shooting from deep.
Drew Burnett had four points and nine rebounds, and 13 of the 14 players who appeared for Crown scored.
Jacob Van Dam had a dynamic 16-6-6 line in just 20 minutes of play and
Jacob Masek had four points and eight rebounds in just 10 minutes of court time.
On Saturday the Crown men's basketball team suffered a disappointing 81-63 loss to UW-Superior on Saturday evening. Despite the result, Crown secured the number two seed in the upcoming UMAC Tournament as the fans were watching the score of the North Central vs. Bethany Lutheran game across town.
Crown knew going in that the result of their game had no bearing on their seeding and, unfortunately, it showed in their play. UW-Superior jumped out to a 34-25 lead at halftime and never really looked back, eventually winning by an 18-point margin.
Crown rested their starters for much of the second half, but UW-Superior was the better team on the night.
Crown was led by
Cade Carroll who had 14 points and got a near double-double from
Seth Royston who had ten points and nine rebounds.
Those performances weren't near enough to outweigh a 1-20 shooting performance from three point range as no one else was able to score more than six points in the loss.
Crown now looks ahead to the playoff where they will host Minnesota Morris on Tuesday with tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
