Football Falls to UNW on Senior Day

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown football program bid farewell to their seniors on Saturday, the team's final home game of the 2022 season.  Unfortunately, the Polars weren't able to send them off in style, falling 39-14 to Northwestern (Minn.).
The visiting Eagles built a 36-0 halftime lead and added a second-half field goal to hold off the Polars in this one.

Crown got a pair of second half touchdowns from first-year Jonathan Wamsley, the first on a 21 yard pass from Diego Narezo and the second on a 23-yard one with less than two minutes remaining.

Sandwiched in between those two scores, the Crown defense came up with a safety, adding two points to the team's total as they stuffed a UNW rushing attempt from near the goal line.

Narezo went 37-57 for 307 yards through the air, with the 37 completions setting a new single-game record that the first-year QB set earlier this season against Martin Luther.  Narezo finished with one touchdown and a pair of interceptions .

Terry Warner went over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season, hauling in nine passes for 105 yards.  Isaiah Anfield led the way in receptions with eleven catches for 79 yards.  The aforementioned Wamsley had four grabs for 35 yards, including Crown's one passing touchdown.

The Shakopee product also led the team in rushing, carrying five times for 56 yards and averaging over eleven yards per carry with a touchdown.  Josh Wallace, who caught six balls for 39 yards, also reached 50 yards rushing, on eleven carries.
The Polars defense recorded eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and had a forced fumble and interception on the afternoon.

Gabe Banks had a team-high eight tackles including 2.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.  Dametre Forshee had a sack and forced fumble and Devaughn Batain had Crown's interception.

The Polars will wrap up their 2022 campaign in Missouri next Saturday with a matchup against Westminster.
