St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Polars faced off with the unbeaten Macalester Scots winning by a score of 64-61 taking down the MIAC foe to extend their win streak to seven. Four players topped double digits in points to lead a balanced scoring attack.
The Polars jumped out to an early lead to start the game once again with a couple of early three's from
Alec Testerman. The Polars built off of the slight edge in the first half totaling more rebounds and a higher field goal percentage contributing to their 35-29 lead at the break.
The Polars led all game long, similarly to the first half they came out of the gates hot in the 2
nd going on a 13-6 run to stretch the lead to sixteen. The Scots slowly climbed back into the game over the course of the second half, inching closer and closer with a few Polars mishaps. With just 5 seconds left a clutch free throw from Masek pushed the lead to three. The final shot fell just short for the Scots, ending the second half thriller.
Seth Royston and
Jacob Van Dam led the scoring for Crown both totaling 18 points. Royston went 5-10 from the field and 2-5 from three-point range. Van Dam went 5-14 from the field and 2-7 from three.
Jacob Masek and
Alec Testerman both had solid outings as well, Masek with 11 points and Testerman with 10 points.
Jacob Masek and
Seth Royston both added double doubles on the evening with Masek totaling a massive 17 rebounds and Royston with 11. Masek came up just short of a triple-double with 9 assists in a spectacular performance from the senior from Shoreview, Minnesota.
The Polars led most statistical categories leading in rebounds 41-32 and shooting 42% from the field compared to 36.4% from Macalester.
With UMAC play looming, the Polars will head to St. Paul, Minnesota for an exhibition match up against the St. Thomas Tommies at 7pm on Saturday.
