Women’s Soccer Returns to Winning Ways

New Ulm, Minn. – The Crown women's soccer team broke through on the scoresheet and in the win column on Wednesday as they traveled to Martin Luther and claimed a 3-1 victory in UMAC play.

The Polars can claim a string of positive performances, but have struggled at times to turn those performances into goal and wins, but that was not the case against the Knights.

Abigail Shull scored just under three minutes into the match after getting forward into the MLC penalty area and finishing under pressure.

The Knights equalized in the 32nd minute, but the Polars responded quickly.  This time Ashley Pierce created some space just outside the box and placed her shot into the upper right hand corner of the goal just three minutes and 17 seconds later.

The score held at 2-1 until the 79th minute when Ellie Schanbacher pounced on a bouncing ball in front of goal after an Ella Hollander free kick.

Crown outshot the Knights 17-10 and had a 13-6 advantage in shots on target.  Ellie Taylor made five saves to earn the win in goal for the Polars.

Crown will look to keep their momentum going into a big matchup with Bethany Lutheran in Mankato on Saturday.
