Late Goal Takes Down Women's Soccer

Ashland, WI – Despite a 11-9 advantage in shots, the Crown Polars women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat on the road at Northland on Friday.  The Lumberjills scored with just 4:32 remaining in the game to secure the improbable victory.

The Polars had 7 shots on goal while Northland only tallied 4. Ashley Pierce tallied 5 shots with 2 of them being on goal and a plethora of Polars adding a shot on the evening.

The score remained level deep into the second half despite the Polars having a slight advantage in shots. The late goal by the Lumberjills proved to be the final say in the match.

The Polars are currently sitting tied for the 4th position in the conference. With 15 points in conference play the Polars are tied with Martin Luther while Northland is now close behind with 13 points. Crown heads to UMAC leader UW-Superior on Saturday to square off in a very important final regular season match at 7pm on Saturday.
