Four Minute Hat Trick Propels Men’s Soccer to Senior Day Romp

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Tim Jaeger has been one of the top playmakers in the conference this year and has already surpassed Crown's single-season assist record and tied the record for assists in a game.  On Saturday, Jaeger took matters into his own hands, scoring a hat trick in under four minutes in the first half and later adding a fourth for a four-goal half that propelled Crown to a comfortable 4-1 win over Martin Luther.

The four goals now put Jaeger on ten for the season, to go along with nine assists as the Crown attacker has developed into one of the most dangerous players in the UMAC.

The first came on an assist from Joaquin Silva, who has seven goals and five assists on the year, as Jaeger timed his run to perfection and tapped the ball by the keeper after a nice piece of control inside the box.

His second came from the penalty spot as Silva was brought down after getting in behind the MLC defense.  The Knight's keeper got a hand to the penalty kick, but wasn't able to keep it out and just like that Crown had a 2-0 lead inside of a minute.
The Crowd didn't have to wait long for a third, as Jaeger scored again less than three minutes later after unbalancing a defender and placing his shot inside the left post.

Crown's, and Jaeger's, fourth came in the 33rd minute when the German broke inside the box and attempted to square the ball to Silva.  The pass came off a retreating MLC defender and found the back of the net.  Per NCAA scoring protocols, the goal was credited to Jaeger.

It was a feel-good day all around for the Polars as fans got to see plenty of the three Crown seniors honored after the game.  Captain CJ Nyland, Jimmy Anderson, and Cole Matthys each suited up for the final time at home and got on the pitch in front of family, friends, and a nice crowd on a beautiful afternoon.

Most importantly, the three points put Crown in the driver's seat as they attempt to clinch a postseason appearance for the first time since 2018.  The Polars are four points behind Northland and could catch the Lumberjacks, but are just three points clear of Minnesota Morris thanks to a shock win by the Cougars over Bethany Lutheran on Saturday.  North Central on 13 points and Northwestern on 12 are also still mathematically alive heading into a dramatic final weekend.
