St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead against visiting Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday night, but couldn't make that lead stick, eventually falling 3-1.
Lexi Shreve opened the scoring with an assist from
Ellie Schanbacher in the ninth minute, but 22
nd and 30
th minute goals from the Vikings saw Crown trailing 2-1 at halftime.
The Polars pushed to find a way back into the game and created some solid opportunities, but eventually BLC hit on the counter and sealed the game with a goal just over two minutes from full time.
Both teams fired nine shots with seven of those on target in a very even matchup.
The Polars welcome Martin Luther to town on Saturday in another key UMAC matchup.
