Strong Defense and Balanced Scoring Lead Storm Men Over Northland

Ashland, Wis. – A strong defensive effort, dominance on the glass, and a balanced scoring attack propelled the Crown men's basketball team to an 82-62 win over Northland College on Saturday night.  Crown held the Lumberjacks to just 21 points in the first half and a 32.3% field goal percentage for the game.

Crown turned up the defensive intensity early and jumped ahead by double-digits after just eight minutes and would hold at least an eleven point advantage for the final half hour of the game.  Northland didn't reach double-figures on the scoreboard until the 8:57 mark of the first half and Crown never looked back.

The Storm didn't have a great shooting night,  but forced 19 turnovers and held a 58-40 advantage on the glass, including 20 offensive rebounds.

Cade Carroll led the way with 19 points and eleven rebounds fourth double-double of the season, a feat he achieved by halftime when he had 17 and ten.  Drew Burnett played his best game in a Storm uniform, scoring 12 points on 5-6 shooting and had nine rebounds (seven on the offensive end) and Jacob Van Dam got to eleven points thanks in large part to a perfect 6-6 mark from the free throw line.

Nine other players scored for Crown in the game, highlighted by eight points off the bench from Christian Oldenettel

The win moves Crown's conference record to 2-2 as the team gets set to host Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran this Friday and Saturday.
