Jaeger, Fischer Score as Fall in Overtime to Lions

HANCOCK, Mich. --- On Saturday, Crown Men's Soccer battled in an incredibly odd match against the Finlandia University Lions, eventually falling 3-2 in overtime after a Finlandia golden goal.

After the Lions got on the board first, Tim Jaeger scored his first collegiate goal to tie the game at one apiece. In the second half, both teams had the same scenario that led to a score. First, Crown keeper Foster Browning received a yellow card in the box, leading to a penalty kick goal for the Lions. However, Finlandia keeper Hunter Ross received a yellow, which gave Payton Fisher an opportunity for his first PK goal as a Storm athlete. While this was happening in the second half, a local firework show was in the background, a spectacular sight for all the live streamers. Only in the Upper Peninsula.

It was a physical match with the cards being handed left and right. Finlandia received five yellow cards in the game, and Crown received three. Josh Cannon, Browning, and Tim Jaeger all received their first yellow cards of the season. In net, Foster recorded three saves to keep the Storm in contention.

Crown Men's Soccer will continue their season soon as they head to St. Mary's on Wednesday.
