MINNEAPOLIS --- Crown College Men's Soccer competed against the Augsburg Auggies on a rainy Thursday evening as they played their first match of the season. The game remained close, tied 1-1 at halftime before Augsburg pulled away for a 7-1 win. The Storm's lone goal came from the foot of Josh Cannon, who scored after picking off a lazy pass from an Augsburg defender to go one-on-one with the Auggie keeper.
This match was new Storm Head Coach Thomás Pazo's first as the manager, and the team played with resiliency as they competed against a team that is usually one of the best in the region. The Storm's lone yellow card was given against first-year Yanik Wehrli in the first half. Augsburg shut down the Storm offensive attack, with only two shots allowed in the match, as first-year Tim Jaeger made an on-target attempt as well as Cannon's goal.
Crown Men's Soccer will next play on Saturday, heading to the Upper Penisula in Michigan to face Finlandia University.
