ST. PAUL, Minn. --- Crown College Baseball faced the University of St. Thomas for the first time in school history on Saturday afternoon. This matchup is also likely to be the last matchup between the baseball programs, with the Tommies moving from NCAA Division III to Division I and joining the Summit League. St. Thomas took this matchup 9-1.
The Storm scored their one run after Kyle Schroedle singled in the fifth inning, eventually scoring on an error by the Tommie third baseman. Schroedle, Bailey Sarto, and Rhys Dewick all recorded hits in the game.
First-year pitcher Jacob Van Dam made his first start of the season for the Storm and pitched two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Kevin Golden, Dylan Balfour, Eric Newman, Caleb Keen, Tyler VanCise, and Aidan Volk-Specht all received one inning of work. Newman, Keen, and VanCise didn't allow an earned run in their three outs.
